Royal Visit Impacts – Jeffries Point

British Royal Visit to Piers Park
Thursday, December 1st, 2022

As you may have heard, the Royals will be visiting Piers Park tomorrow, Thursday, December 1st. We’ve unfortunately been given this information very last minute. Additionally, some information is being withheld due to security reasons. Here’s what we know right now:

  • No Standing Signs have been placed on the Piers Park side of Marginal Street from Orleans to the Shipyard for tomorrow (Thursday). The signs state they are all day, but we’re unsure when the no parking and/or towing of cars would commence. We recommend you move your cars from that side of the street this evening to avoid being towed.
  • Councilor Coletta’s office informed us this morning that BPD has told her the following:
    • There will only be 1 full street closure and it’s only a small portion (JPNA is assuming this is Marginal Street for obvious reasons, but we’re not being told due to security).
    • Every other affected street will be a soft closure around the area (Again, we’re not being told which streets will be affected due to security).
    • Busses and residents will be able to get to their locations despite any closures.
  • UPDATE! We’re now being told they will be at Piers Park for 3pm today (Thursday, 12/1). We haven’t been told any specific timing of their visit, again due to security…however, through the neighborhood grapevine we have been told the tenants of the Shipyard were told by MassPort that it will be sometime between 10am and 6pm. Again, this has not been confirmed.
  • It was noticed today that Comcast was scheduled to do work on Cottage Street between Sumner and Webster Street tomorrow. The JPNA contacted Councilor Coletta’s office about this and the Councilor was able to have them delay this work until Friday due to this event.
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us at board@jeffriespoint.org. We will do our best to provide you with the information we have at hand. Also, please keep an eye on our Facebook Page as we’re posting updates as we receive them there. Thank you!
